Get to know Derek Moore, Co-Owner of Cimarron Tank
Cimarron Tank has a long history in the midstream natural gas sector where customers have long enjoyed the benefits of the PACER. Derek Moore, co-owner of the company, offered some insight on the PACER by Cimarron Tank and hinted at exciting things to come.
How did you become involved in Cimarron Tank Company?
My father, John Moore, invented the PACER by Cimarron Tank back in 1995. After many trials and field tests, his patented technology proved to be a viable solution for midstream natural gas operators by reducing the amount of money they were spending on triethylene glycol. By simply reclaiming spent glycol and reusing it in their dehydrators, their glycol budgets have been significantly reduced. I have been fortunate enough to have been a part of the very first Pacer manufactured and every one since. When dad retired in 2013, my sister Lacey and I took over and we’ve worked to bring dad’s innovative technology to operators throughout the United States and Latin America.
What is the most common misunderstanding you hear from customers about The PACER by Cimarron Tank?
The misunderstanding we encounter most from customers has to do with the idea that there’s a one-size fits all approach to glycol reclamation in the midstream natural gas industry. Just like the dehydration needs of midstream operations vary depending on the conditions at a particular site, the PACER’s ability to reclaim glycol depends on those same conditions. Cimarron Tank prides itself in building custom PACERs that are designed to handle the glycol needs of each operation. No two PACERs are exactly alike – they are tailored to fit your needs.
Of all the benefits that the PACER brings to a midstream operator, which stands out the most prominently to you?
The most impressive benefit of the PACER, to me, is the amount of savings that we can help our customers achieve in terms of reduced glycol purchases. In some cases, the PACER has paid for itself in as little as 4 months! On average, our customers cut their glycol budget by 90 percent by reclaiming their spent glycol with the PACER by Cimarron Tank.
Do you foresee other industries that could potentially benefit from The PACER’s technology?
We’re actively exploring the PACER’s applications outside of the midstream oil and natural gas sector. While this is a niche product, we’re finding success in avenues that could open up brand new markets for the PACER. We’re excited to continue to research the possibilities and report back on our findings.
